Cottages Of Ireland Poster
(Inspired by Helen Allington)
Irish Cottages, known as Irish: teachín, were historically the homes of farm workers and labourers, but in recent years the term has assumed a romantic connotation especially when referring to cottages with thatched roofs (Irish: teach ceann tuí). These thatched cottages were once to be seen all over Ireland, but most have become dilapidated due to newer and modern developments. However, there has been a recent revival of restoring these old cottages, with people wanting a more traditional home. Today, thatched cottages are now mostly built for the tourist industry and many can be let out as accommodation.

Richie Delaney a qualified Industrial Designer operating now as a full time professional artist from his studio ( Birch Cottage ) based in Mayo, West Ireland.
Richie generally finds himself painting on a digital canvas and he discovered some time ago that the digital art medium is a powerful tool. When combined with traditional acrylic and inks, fastidiously worked onto birch wood panels using brush and palette knife to create bold and powerful colours, the visual impact is spectacular !!!
Inspiration is derived from images and photographs digitally manipulated with thanks to modern technology to create an entirely new work of art. It is an evolving process to which he tries to capture only the essential characteristics in order to create a new body of work portraying his own ideal.
As far as style development goes, Richie tends to base his style from ideas, music, and visuals he might come across. In this illusionary art world of pixels, why not create something beautiful ?
It’s all about the colour splash !!
